Description - 3MR6 TURKISH GALLEY (x2) The backbone of the Turkish fleet, the Galley was both light and fast. The most common type had 24 banks of oars, with 144 oarsmen and carried an armament of one large gun, between 30 and 40 lbs, and two smaller 12 lb guns. Some carried swivel guns on the sides. In addition, up to 150 troops could be carried, and unlike the Christian fleets, many of these carried bows. Although these would have difficulty penetrating armour, the rate of fire was far greater than that of the Spanish Arquebus.
