Description - H.M.S. LEVIATHAN - 74 GUN THIRD RATE Copied from the French Courageux (captured 1761 and wrecked 1796). Leviathan was launched 9.10.1790. She was converted to a prison ship in 1816 and sold 1848. British built sisters Carnatic, Colossus, Minotaur, Aboukir & Bombay similiar. Served at Trafalgar. Armament 28 x 32 pdr, 28 x 18 pdr, 18 x 9 pdr (4 pdr later replaced by 4 9 pdr carronades) Colour Black sides with two yellow ochre strakes. Bulwarks - red.
